35 years later

I discovered a patchwork cot cover that I made for my first daughter (now 34) it was made out of material l had used in dress making. Those were the days when making clothes could save you money (before Primark and New Look!).  I had never quilted the flowers made from lots of hexagonal pieces. Instead the patchwork cover had been sewn to a warm flanelette sheet in a turquoise colour.   I bought my first piece of backing material and started to quilt into the design.  It is almost finished.  I love hand sewing, it is so soothing.  Soon I will have a completed cot quilt.  I am hoping that my daughter, recently married will give birth to a grandchild (this is a hypothetical grandchild) and my cot quilt can take it's place on the bed of a second generation.  This time it willl bea  patchwork quilt rather than a patchwork cover.

  1. Aha! So busybee is my sister!! This sounds like a lovely idea and I really hope you get the hypothetical grandchild for the quilt (but then what will I make for it?!). I still can't reply to your message as you are still a 'no-reply' blogger - you just need to put your email address into your blogger account settings. I do hope you keep writing this - and put pics up of the quilt!! You may think nobody is reading this yet (except me) but nobody was reading mine (except you!) 2 years ago, and look at it now!!
